There are no pharmacies in some Bulgarian municipalities, Pharmaceutical Union reports

Photo: library

There are nearly 3,300 pharmacies in Bulgaria. Their number is sufficient for this country, but the problem is that they are unevenly distributed as there are entire municipalities without pharmacies. There are also municipalities where pharmacies do not fulfill their full range of functions, which makes it difficult for patients to access medicines. This is what Velina Grigorova, chair of the Bulgarian Pharmaceutical Union, said on the occasion of the World Pharmacists Day. She also pointed out that, according to recent research, the level of antibiotic resistance in Bulgaria was fairly high.
