The strategy of the caretaker Ministry of Energy for development of the electric power industry in the next 30 years will be presented today at a round table with the participation of branch organizations, trade unions and MPs who are members of the Energy Committee.

Minister of Energy Rossen Hristov announced that the strategy envisages the construction of four new nuclear power units by 2050. "The vision of the ministry is for intensive construction of capacities and preservation of the operating coal-fired power plants, so that Bulgaria remains a net exporter of electricity," he said. The ministry also recommends construction of wind farms and the use of renewable energy sources to ensure a smooth transition to decarbonization.
