Skepticism among the political forces after the third mandate received by BSP

After receiving the third mandate to form a cabinet within the framework of the 48th National Assembly, this week the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) will decide from which formations and on what topics they will seek support. At the moment, however, most parliamentary parties are skeptical about the formation of a regular cabinet with the mandate of the BSP and express surprise at the decision of President Rumen Radev.

The GERB-SDS parliamentary group will assess what its behavior will be after the actions of the BSP become clear, commented the group's chairwoman Desislava Atanasova in Ruse. However, the leader of the SDS Rumen Hristov was categorical: "If we are invited to a meeting, we will take part, but do not expect support from the SDS for the BSP".

"We continue the change" will participate in the leadership meeting proposed by the BSP, said Daniel Laurer. He said that he was aware in advance that on topics such as economic development and the fight against social inequality, the two formations could reach an agreement, but on others - the war in Ukraine and the Electoral Code, the differences in their positions were serious.

Ramadan Atalay said on Sunday that if invited, the MRF were ready to meet with the left, but according to him, things are moving firmly towards new elections.

"The president has been doing the same thing for two years with the same result - going to elections and governance with caretaker cabinets," Hristo Ivanov, the co-chairman of "Democratic Bulgaria", commented for BNR.

The leader of "Vazrazhdane" Kostadin Kostadinov defined the chances of the BSP to form a cabinet for the third term as zero. He stated that he would not attend a joint meeting with the leaders of the parliamentary parties, but only a bilateral one. Kostadinov also demanded from the BSP support for convening a referendum on preserving the Bulgarian lev.

If the third last attempt to form a cabinet fails, the president will have to dissolve parliament, appoint a caretaker government and set a date for new parliamentary elections, possibly in the spring.
