Bulgaria has sent 20 more rescuers from the Fire Safety and Civil Protection Directorate to Turkiye. They were flown by a military Spartan aircraft. 10 medics from the Sofia-based Center for Emergency Medical Care also flew to Turkiye to provide medical assistance to the people in distress. The Municipality of Sofia sent tents and thermal cameras. Two teams from the Military Medical Academy, 58 rescuers from the Fire Safety and Civil Protection Directorate and a team of 12 rescuers and five rescue dogs from the Bulgarian Red Cross are already working in Turkiye.

Rescue workers continue to search for survivors amid adverse weather conditions. The death toll from the devastating earthquake has surpassed 8,000 people. More than 8,000 survivors have been pulled from the rubble.

A second Bulgarian citizen was reported missing after the earthquakes in Turkiye, Bulgaria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said. The man was in the town of Antakya when the disaster struck.
