There is still further progress to be made by Bulgaria in the fight against corruption, the distribution of state advertisements in the media, etc, European Commissioner for Justice Didier Reynders said after the General Affairs Council in Brussels. A new round of discussions on the rule of law was held with Belgium, Bulgaria and the Czech Republic. In his words, the last two years have seen several positive events in Bulgaria: the country’s intention to introduce an effective mechanism for seeking criminal responsibility from the prosecutor general, the functioning of the Bulgarian Counter-corruption and Unlawfully Acquired Assets Forfeiture Commission and the creation of a Council for the Development of Civil Society, the BNR‘s correspondent in Brussels Angelina Piskova reported.

"For Bulgaria, the proper functioning of the single market is extremely important, through easing the regulations and bureaucratic procedures for businesses, stimulating the industry and raw material autonomy of the EU", Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Velislava Petrova said at the regular monthly meeting of the EU General Affairs Council which took place in Brussels. Velislava Petrova outlined the importance of nuclear energy and technologies for ensuring the energy independence of the European economy within the framework of the green transition.
