Bulgaria remains the country with the lowest GDP in the EU

Bulgaria has the lowest Gross Domestic Product per capita among the 27 member states of the European Union, Eurostat's preliminary estimates show. 


While Luxembourg and Ireland have recorded the highest level of GDP – respectively, with 161% and 134% above the average for the community, Bulgaria is below the average with 41%. 

Close to Bulgaria are two countries whose indicators are lower than the EU average level, and these are Greece and Slovakia with 40%.
