Winners of prestigious "Icarus" awards have been announced

The "Icarus" national awards were presented on the World Theater Day in the "Ivan Vazov" National Theater in Sofia.

The play "Orpheus" of the National Theater, by Slovenian director Jernej Lorenzi, grabbed three awards - for the best performance, for best director and for favorite performance of the audience. Vladimir Penev's performance in "Easter Wine" at the National Theater received the price for the best leading male role. Svetlana Yancheva took the prize for leading female role in "Oh, Happy Days" at the Sfumato Theater Workshop.

The prize for circus art went to Lucrezia Mario Malevolti for excellence in the equestrian genre. Singer Lyubo Kirov received an award for stage performance and Theodosii Spassov took the prize for contemporary Bulgarian music for his world tour. Maria Stefanova was awarded the statuette for honor and dignity as the oldest acting actress in Bulgaria.
