EU allocates 200 million euros to Sofia to strengthen the Bulgarian-Turkish border

Bulgaria will receive 200 million euros from the EU to strengthen security at the Bulgarian-Turkish border, Interior Minister Ivan Demerdzhiev said during his visit to the Border Police Station in Malko Tarnovo. Bulgaria has received assurances that the security of our external border is a priority for the EU. 
All our requests for technical assistance have been addressed, the Minister added. For three weeks now the border patrols on the Bulgarian-Turkish border have been equipped with long-barrelled weapons. 75 more all-terrain vehicles have been provided for border security and the funds for the purchase of new vehicles will be received in early April, Demerdzhiev said.
