At the age of 90, Prof. Dr. Ivan Chernozemski, Minister of Health back in 1990, long-time WHO expert, director of the National Oncology Center (1987-89 and 1995-2000), member of the Higher Medical Council at the Ministry of Health, passed away. He wrote over 200 articles in various specialized medical magazines and numerous monographs.
Prof. Chernozemski is a holder of the orders "Stara Planina" First Degree, "Cyril and Methodius" First Degree. He also received the award "Doctor of Bulgaria" and "Medic of the year for overall contribution to the fight against oncological diseases". In 2012, the National Oncology Hospital awarded him a Gold Medal for overall contribution in the field of oncology.
