If the general elections were to be held at the beginning of October, 6 parties and coalitions would enter the Bulgarian parliament, a Market Links poll, commissioned by bTV shows.
GERB/SDS would earn 23.1% of the votes, followed by We Continue the Change/Democratic Bulgaria (PP/DB) and Vazrazhdane with 14.1% and 13.3% respectively. The DPS faction affiliated with Ahmed Dogan (Alliance for Rights and Freedoms) garners 8.4%, DPS-New Beginning headed by Delyan Peevski – 6.4%. Bulgarian Socialist Party-United Left earns 5.3%. There Is Such a People (ITN) falls short of the 4% electoral threshold at 3.4%.
48% of the respondents say that vote-buying and controlled voting have discouraged them from voting. 55% expect this kind of voting to increase on 27 October. Sociologist Dobromir Zhivkov says that up to a quarter of Bulgarians make up their minds who to vote for during the last week before the election, and 18-20% decide in the last 2 days.
The national survey by Market Links, financed by bTV, was conducted September 25-October 1 among 1,011 adults in direct personal interview form and online survey.
