Caretaker Minister of the Environment and Water, Petar Dimitrov, says he does not think there was a problem in the location of the air quality measuring stations.

A week ago, in an interview with BNR, lawyer Dimitar Ploshtakov said that the state institutions deliberately compromised the air monitoring system because the points where the air quality measurement stations were placed were far from the places with high concentration of fine dust particles.

The minister pointed out that the specific locations are chosen by a special working group and it is likely that some of the stations will be relocated. The decision will be made in the beginning of the next year.

"The aim of this working group is to find the most suitable locations for these stations. For example, the station in the Mladost quarter has detected no excess of fine dust particles for 3 years and this station could be moved to a suitable place with agreement of the municipal administration of Sofia", Petar Dimitrov told BNR.

According to the data presented by the minister, the quality of air has been improving throughout the country and this trend is permanent and sustainable. He said that for the last three years, the average annual norms for fine dust particles have not been exceeded on the territory of the entire country.
