European Parliament will again call for the entry of Bulgaria and Romania by land into Schengen

At today's session of MEPs  opening in Strasbourg, the European Parliament will again call for full membership of Bulgaria and Romania in Schengen. The agenda announcement makes clear that the EP will discuss the issue together with the European Commission.

According to statements by Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu and Bulgarian Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev, a positive decision by the European interior ministers is expected soon, which should come into force in the first months of next year, the release added.
Bulgaria and Romania were admitted in December last year to the Schengen area by air and water, but a further decision is pending to abolish checks at the two countries' land Schengen borders.
