A pink pelican has become a real attraction for the residents of Varna. Hundreds of people have spotted it in the area of the Marine Station in the coastal city and rushed to post his photos on social networks. The pelican is already known there by the name Stoycho, and local fishermen share their catch with the bird.

According to ornithologists, the appearance of a pink pelican is not typical for Bulgaria’s maritime capital. It is currently the migratory period for this bird species, which are heading north. Stoycho is quite social and not afraid of people which is unusual for pelicans. ''Don’t feed the pelican with corn snacks, bread or other human foods”, ornithologists warn. The pelican's main diet is fresh fish.
