A protest under the slogan "Decent work - decent remuneration! There is no economy without transport!" stopped the operation of all bus, trolleybus and tram lines of Sofia public transport this morning.

Only the metro is operating normally.

The protest continues until 12:00 and is organized by the transport unions of CITUB and "Podkrepa" trade union, which insist on the urgent allocation of additional financial resources from the state budget in the amount of 20 million euros for the public transport of Sofia, Varna, Ruse and the Automobile Administration agency.

In connection with the demands of the capital's transport, the mayor of Sofia Vasil Terziev announced that the Sofia budget has funds for an increase of 50 euros per person and expects assistance from the state. It also became clear that the Sofia Municipality has sent a letter to the Ministry of Finance requesting a meeting to discuss the possibility of the state allocating more funds for public transport.
