The Bulgarian Sunday School in Cairo reopens after a long pause

The work of the Bulgarian Sunday School "St. St. Cyril and Methodius" in Egypt has been restored after a long interruption, announced the Minister of Foreign Affairs Georg Georgiev during a two-day visit to Cairo, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported. The school is listed under number 97 in the List of Bulgarian Sunday Schools Abroad for the 2025/2026 academic year, published on the website of the Ministry of Education and Science.


The news delighted the representatives of the Bulgarian community, who had gathered at the Embassy of Bulgaria in Egypt. The Bulgarian diplomatic mission in Cairo solemnly celebrated May 24 - the Day of the Holy Brothers Cyril and Methodius, of the Bulgarian Alphabet, Education and Culture and of Slavic Literature.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs welcomed the guests of the festive event – ​​Bulgarians from Egypt and Sudan, friends of Bulgaria, as well as representatives of the Egyptian and Bulgarian business circles. The Bulgarian first diplomat emphasized the role of the Bulgarian alphabet for the Bulgarian identity and the fact that Bulgaria became the first country to adopt the Cyrillic alphabet and contributed to the spread of light and spirituality among other Slavic peoples.

The celebration continued with traditional musical performances by young Bulgarian talents Samuil Dimitrov and Siyana Khedr, who successfully presented their talent and won awards in various competitions, we learn from a publication of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Within the framework of his two-day visit to Egypt, Minister Georg Georgiev opened a Bulgarian-Egyptian business forum in Cairo, which aims to set a new stage in the development of economic relations between Bulgaria and the Arab Republic of Egypt.
