This year, Bulgaria had the best winter season, Tourism Minister Miroslav Borshosh said at a briefing, referring to data for the first four months, BTA reported.

For the first time, over 2 million tourist registrations were made – 6.4% more than last year and 22% more than the pre-COVID 2019. This, according to the minister, is due to the extremely focused advertising and marketing strategy. An increase in the number of tourists has been registered among both Bulgarian and foreign citizens.

“Bulgarian tourists registered in 2025 are 1,389,000 people, foreign tourist registrations are 632,000. This is also a kind of record, because for the first time we have exceeded 600,000 registrations for this period. The total number of overnight stays is also growing,” said Miroslav Borshosh.

According to Eurostat, Bulgaria is in the top 10 countries with the best-developing winter tourism in the period January-March.
