Bulgaria appreciates Oman's important role in de-escalating tensions and achieving stability and lasting peace in the region. This is according to Head of State Rumen Radev. He awarded the Presidential Medal of Honour to the visiting Omani Foreign Minister, as reported by Mira Stefanova.
Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi received the award in the Coat of Arms Hall of the Presidency in recognition of his decisive role in securing the release of the detained crew of the Galaxy Leader, including two Bulgarian sailors: Captain Lyubomir Chanev and Chief Mate Danail Veselinov. They attended the ceremony today with their families.
President Radev thanked Oman for its help in freeing the ship's crew, saying: 'Without Oman's decisive role, this case could not have been resolved and our compatriots could not have returned to their families unharmed.'
