The Minister of Tourism Miroslav Borshosh, Hans Hornik – Chairman of the Scientific Committee of the European Association of Historic Thermal Towns (EHTTA) and advisor to the city of Baden, and the mayor of Hisarya Iva Valcheva discussed in Sofia the possibilities for the town's membership in the association.

Established in 2009 in Brussels, EHTTA unites 50 members from 18 European countries, including 37 municipalities with a SPA tradition and 13 associated organizations. The association is officially recognized by the Council of Europe with its cultural routes and has been a member of the World Tourism Organization since 2019.

The meeting presented the cultural heritage of Hisarya as one of the oldest balneological resorts in Bulgaria, with a tradition dating back to the Roman era.

In the first 6 months of 2025 alone, nearly 93,000 tourists vacationed in Hisarya, which is an increase of over 39% compared to the same period in 2024. Last year, the resort welcomed 152,000 tourists. The most numerous are guests from Israel, Germany, Turkey, Romania and Greece.
