From 13 October until 28 November, the Bulgarian Red Cross will hand out products, purchased by the Social Assistance Agency, to vulnerable citizens, the press centre of the organization has announced. The initiative is part of the “Food and basic material assistance” programme, co-financed by the European Social Fund Plus.
More than 640,000 people are expected to receive the food and hygiene packages which will be handed out by Red Cross staff and volunteers at 316 temporary stations around the country.
The campaign also includes accompanying measures such as social assistance guidance and social services within the community and in residency, preparatory steps for coping with adverse climatic conditions and epidemic risks, first aid in the event of disaster, accidents and crises, the Bulgarian news agency BTA reports.
