Bulgaria’s position in NGO Sustainability Index deteriorates
For a second consecutive year, Bulgaria marks a decline in the NGO Sustainability Index. “The situation in five out of all seven indicators has deteriorated. It remained unchanged in two indicators”, Luben Panov from the Bulgarian Center for Not-For-Profit Law told BNR. While Bulgaria failed to mark improvement in any indicator, an overall improvement of the situation in the other 23 countries from Central and Eastern Europe and Eurasia was registered. Bulgaria is leading the negative trend of ongoing attacks against non-governmental organizations. This country registers the largest decline in terms of the public image indicator, the expert added. In his view, the state institutions are unwilling to involve civil organizations in various processes and consultations.
