According to latest Eurostat data about the population of the EU countries in 2018 the population of Bulgaria was 6,957,642.
Young people aged under 15 accounted for 14.3 percent of the population, people aged 14 to 64 – 64.4 percent, and those aged over 64 – 21 percent. According to National Statistical Institute data, on 31 December, 2018, the population of Bulgaria stood at 7,000,039, which is 1.4 percent of the population of the EU.
