The Bulgarian passport ranks 11th in the world in terms of travel freedom and fast border crossing, according to the international company Henley & Partners.
The Henley Passport Index is the original and most authoritative ranking measuring the strength of passports worldwide. It is based on data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), supplemented and updated through independent research and public sources. The index includes 199 passports and 227 travel destinations and is updated monthly, making it the most reliable tool for measuring global mobility.
Ahead of the Bulgarian passport, which has a visa-free score of 178 in 2026, are the passports of 38 countries. The U.S. passport has a visa-free score of 179. The Singapore passport ranks first with a visa-free score of 192.
