Ethnic Bulgarians in Ukraine have the opportunity to apply with cultural projects under the program “Culture. Regions” of the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation for 2026. This was announced on Facebook by the Department of Culture, Tourism, Youth and Sports at the Bolhrad City Council, as cited by BTA.

The program is aimed at supporting local communities, cultural organizations, and artists who work toward the development of local culture, the creation of contemporary cultural products, and the strengthening of regional identity. The deadline for submitting project proposals is March 1, 2026, by 6:00 p.m.

Among the program’s priorities are cultural diversity, new approaches to working with historical memory, digitalization and the preservation of cultural heritage, as well as support for children and young people and ensuring inclusive access to culture.

Bulgarians in Odesa Oblast, Ukraine, number more than 150,000 people and rank third in size according to the latest official census in Ukraine. In the city of Odesa itself, about 50,000–60,000 Bulgarians live. The largest compact Bulgarian population is concentrated in the Bolhrad, Izmail, and Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi districts.
