Sofia strengthens its position as one of the fastest growing urban destinations in the region. In 2025, the Bulgarian capital welcomed nearly 1.4 million tourists - a 9% increase compared to 2024. For the first time, the city also crossed the threshold of over 3 million overnight stays, which shows not only increased interest, but also a longer stay of visitors.

The data were presented at the Sofia Tourism Report 2025 forum, organized by the Municipal Enterprise "Tourism" and brought together representatives of institutions, the tourism business, the airport operator, and analytical companies.

The most guests in Sofia last year arrived from Italy, Israel and Germany, as well as from neighboring Balkan countries - Turkey, Greece and Romania. Increased interest is also reported from markets such as Spain and France.

This international palette of visitors confirms Sofia as an attractive European destination for cultural tourism, city experiences and business trips.
