The volume of retail sales in Bulgaria increased in December 2025 by 1.6% compared to the previous month, when it increased by 0.2%, according to initial Eurostat data. In October of the same year, Bulgarian retailers registered a monthly turnover growth of 0.5%, and in September – 1.3%.
For comparison, in the European Union and the euro area, retail trade decreased by 0.5% in December compared to November last year, but on an annual basis, sales grew in the EU by 1.7% and in the euro area – by 1.3%.
On an annual basis, retail sales in Bulgaria increased by 7.5% in December 2025, which ranks Bulgaria in second place in the EU in this indicator. In November and October, they grew less – by 3.1 and 7.4%, respectively.
