The Bulgarian flag will be raised at Wall Street’s Charging Bull in New York on Saturday 28 February to mark the country’s national holiday, the General Consulate of Bulgaria in New York announced on its Facebook page, inviting the public to attend the event.

The ceremony, starting at 12:00 p.m. local time, will see the Bulgarian community in the U.S. Northeast commemorate Bulgaria’s Liberation Day, celebrated annually on March 3.

The initiative is part of the General Consulate’s February 2026 calendar of Bulgarian cultural events in New York.

The tradition of raising the national flag at the Charging Bull was launched in 2007 and held for three years, before being revived in 2023. This year, for the first time, the mayor of New York issued a proclamation recognising 3 March as Bulgarian Heritage Day.
