In the next 50 – 100 years the climate in Bulgaria will get closer to the African one, which will have its impact on agriculture. That was stated by Prof. Hristo Pimpirev, head of the Bulgarian Antarctic Institute in an interview for the Focus Agency. He explained that climate change projects would be the accents in the scientific researches of the 26th Bulgarian Antarctic expedition. In his words the Antarctic is the kitchen of the entire planet’s climate. ‘Climate change can be felt there the most. A part of the Larsen C Ice Shelf split off not so long ago. This inevitably affects the entire planet’s climate, including the Bulgarians and the people who live on the Balkan Peninsula,’ Prof. Pimpirev comments.
