Some 150 – 200 young Bulgarian people will go to Germany for their professional training under the Job of My Life program of the German government. It is being implemented in cooperation between the Federal Labor Agency and the employment services of several EU member-states, Bulgaria among them.

“The program complies with the hunger of the German state for certain experts and is aimed at its needs”, Brayko Geshanov, a senior expert with European Mobility at the Employment Agency explains.” They are looking for workers not only in the sphere of construction, but also in tourism and many technical experts too. Bulgarian young people with high school diplomas, but with no master degrees are recruited. The idea of the program is those to be supported financially with a scholarship and to learn German both here in Bulgaria and during their further stay abroad.”

The program is unique of its kind and has been working for several years. The interest towards it is very big. The recruitment process is going to an end this year, but the program is most likely to be resumed as of 2016. There are some 30 vacancies left for training in the sphere of construction activities: road construction and reinforced concrete construction.

The training kicks off with classes in German in Bulgaria and then continues in Germany. All the expenses of the participants are covered by the program, as those receive payment during their training.

“Those, who graduate will receive job offers”, Geshanov further comments. “The training lasts about 3 years and has a significant practical segment, which takes place with a certain company. Such an employer has a really serious interest to keep those people afterwards.”

These specialties are quite wanted in Germany, so if anyone decides to change the employer, he or she won’t find it hard to do so, as many companies will appreciate the skills acquired.

There are other programs acting in Bulgaria, aimed at the employment of young experts. The EC-funded 6-month internships under the Erasmus+program, which is represented by the Human Resources development Center and the Your First EURES Job are among them, as the latter is supported in Bulgaria by a major HR company.
