Frank Rose: NATO missile defense shield is not directed against Russia

БНР Новини

The Assistant US Secretary of State Frank Rose in charge of arms control and verification and compliance with agreements arrived in Sofia on Monday.

Frank Rose came to Bulgaria after his visit in Romania in connection with the activation of the system of NATO for missile defense at the military base in Deveselu, and then in Poland - in connection with the construction of a similar defensive complex in the NATO base in Redzikowo. The deployment of missile defense shield elements in Bulgaria has not been a topical issue since 2011, when Washington and Ankara agreed to have such in Turkish territory. The territory of Turkey, however, is in dangerous proximity in the event of an exchange of missile strikes, and lately Ankara is in highly strained relations with Moscow.

The Assistant Secretary of State for arms control, verification and compliance with the agreements Frank Rose characterized his meetings with state officials in Bulgaria as very useful. You can hear more in the exclusive interview Frank Rose gave for the Bulgarian National Radio.
