Visa liberalization remains priority for Bulgaria and Canada

Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev and Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau have discussed the current situation in the EU after the British referendum on exiting the union, as well as issues related to bilateral trade and economic cooperation and the liberalization of visas for Bulgarian citizens. The Bulgarian head of state was in New York to participate in the 71 th session of the UN General Assembly. The issue of liberalizing the visa regime for Bulgarian citizens remains a priority in bilateral relations, President Plevneliev and Prime Minister Trudeau pointed out. Plevneliev highlighted opportunities for increased Canadian investments in Bulgaria and invited Canadian businesses to benefit from the advantages of the Bulgarian investment climate. "Bulgaria is an important factor in the region of Southeast Europe, which includes 12 countries with a total of 150 million people and the country has excellent relations with each of them. This makes Bulgaria a strong voice of the region in the European Union," the president said during the meeting.
