Bulgarian Irina Bokova placed second after former Portugese Premier Antonio Guterres during the latest voting at the UN Security Council, Reuters news agency informs. According to the first results published after yesterday’s voting, Bokova placed fourth after Serbian Vuk Jeremic and Slovak Miroslav Lajcak. However, Reuters analysts contend that Irina Bokova outruns those two candidates, because Jeremic received one discouraging vote more by the permanent members of the UN Security Council and Slovak Lajcak gathered less overall support. According to Reuters, Bulgaria’s new nominee Kristalina Georgieva placed 9th. According to yesterday’s ranking, Georgieva placed 8th in that voting.
