Democracy and the rule of law are Europe’s most powerful weapons. Europe is an area where people feel free, Bulgaria’s President Rossen Plevneliev said in an interview for the German newspaper Frankfrurter Allgemeine Zeitung. Bulgaria’s head of state underlined that the EU must protect those achievements. In President Plevneliev’s view, all countries, including the powerful ones, should follow the same rules. The powerful countries should not use their strength to redraw the state borders, President Plevneliev further said and warned again that the support of ultra-nationalistic parties may undermine the fundament of the EU.
