The Bulgarian Interior Ministry has tightened security precautions ahead of New Year celebrations, Interior Minister Rumiana Bachvarova has said. Police presence will be increased and more checks will be made of both persons and luggage on stations and airports. For the time being there has been no information of a direct terrorist threat in Bulgaria, Bachvarova has specified. Security measures will be expanded in big cities, in resorts and at all transport hubs – stations, bus stations and airports. Rumiana Bachvarova has urged citizens to be vigilant and submit signals about dubious luggage or individuals.
