Cultural heritage will be one of the priorities of the Bulgarian presidency of the Council of the European Union due in 2018. This was the highlight in the speech of Bulgarian Deputy Minister of Culture in the caretaker government Boriana Hristova during the meeting in Tirana of the Council of Ministers of Culture of Southeast Europe. In a special video address to the participants in the forum UNESCO Director General Irina Bokova pointed to the need to strengthen the role of culture for the sake of sustainable development. The year 2018 will be a European Year of Cultural Heritage, Boriana Hristova said in turn. She pointed out that the relationship between cultural heritage, cultural identity and citizens was of great importance for promoting tolerance in response to growing Euroscepticism and disunity.
