Bulgaria has not discussed with Gazprom an option where a gas pipe from Russia would reach the future gas hub near the city of Varna, GERB MP and Chairman of the National Assembly Committee on Energy Delyan Dobrev told BNR on Sunday. It will be very difficult for such an option to meet the EU requirements. Our idea is to launch an investment project aimed at boosting the capacity of Bulgartransgaz company which will allow us to transit bigger gas quantities. This will be in line with the EU requirements, Delyan Dobrev went on to say. In the beginning of June Bulgaria’s Minister of Energy Temenuzhka Petkova and the Chairman of Gazprom Management Committee Alexey Miller signed a road map which will enable those countries to study the topic related to the development of Bulgaria’s gas transferring infrastructure in line with the EU rules. We are looking for opportunities to develop our gas transferring system through the transit of large quantities of gas without using the South Stream gas pipeline, because it had three main collisions with the third energy package of the European Commission, Delyan Dobrev further said.
