A 5-10 percent increase in the number of tourists is expected this coming winter season, Minister of Tourism Nikolina Angelkova said. She added that the system of interconnection of hotel registers with the registers of the National Revenue Agency and the Interior Ministry will be made operational as of next season. Connecting registers will be an important step in the fight against the shady economy, said Minister Angelkova:
“Automatically and in real time the National Revenue Agency and the Interior Ministry, municipalities and the Ministry of Tourism, each within the bounds of their competence, shall be able to register higher revenues and the overnight accommodation nationwide.”
To be able to build a second gondola lift in Bansko, we shall have to wait for the court ruling on the management plan of the Pirin National Park, Minister Angelkova explained. The Ministry of the Environment is also expected to make its decision on whether certain activities can be performed on the basis of the old management plan.
