Abbot of Bigor Monastery in Macedonia receives European Citizen’s Prize for 2018

At an official ceremony in the National Assembly, the 2018 European Parliament Prize for citizens was given to Abbot of the Bigor Monastery in Macedonia, Archimandrite Parthenius. He was presented with the public prize for promoting mutual understanding, overcoming internal divisions among Macedonian citizens and improving good relations with neighboring countries. The prize was given by Bulgarian MEP Andrey Kovatchev, who nominated him.

"We remain firmly behind the Agreement for good neighborly relations, friendship and cooperation between the Republic of Macedonia and Bulgaria, which is written with the blood of our ancestors and calms their souls," Archimandrite Parthenius said at the ceremony.
