One year after signing the trade agreement between Canada and the EU - CETA, Bulgarian exports to Canada increased by 15%. This was made clear at a regional round table in Plovdiv with the participation of the Ambassador of Canada to Bulgaria Kevin Hamilton and representatives of the business.

Bulgarian companies export to Canada mainly machines, electrical equipment, chemical and pharmaceutical products, as well as agricultural goods. Canada is the 11th largest partner of Bulgaria outside the EU. In 2017 direct Canadian investments in Bulgaria reached 28 million euros, mainly in the fields of information and communication technologies, automotive industry, pharmacy and mining.
