Major cruise companies avoid the Black Sea ports due to the uncertain geopolitical situation after the annexation of Crimea,Portseurope.com announced. Only two cruise ships visited Bulgarian ports in 2017. In 2018 there were no visits at all. The expectations for the summer of 2019 are for one visit only. 2014 was the last strong year for the cruise tourism in the Black Sea, Portseurope.com notes. In 2014 Bulgaria’s biggest port Varna was visited by 36 cruise ships with 30,000 passengers.
