Despite road accidents Bulgarians define themselves as non-risk drivers

There are 2.5 million active drivers in Bulgaria aged 18 to 75. 95 percent of road accidents are caused by driver errors, said Malina Krumova, chair of the Road Safety State Agency in her presentation of the Safe Drive Index.

By the drivers’ own self-assessment, the first national Safe Drive Index for 2018 registers 89.6 out of a maximum of 100 points. The highest risk driving scores 0. Bulgarian drivers describe themselves as avoiding risks and transfer responsibility to the other road users. This is a sign that risks on the road are underestimated and are frequently not identified, comment the team members who drafted the report
