EP elections 2019: Election silence in Bulgaria today in the run-up to the elections for European Parliament

Today, 25 May is a day of election silence before the vote for European Parliament on Sunday, 26 May.

During election silence the dissemination of any forecast results or opinion polls, in any form whatsoever, is strictly forbidden. By a decision of the municipal authorities, in Sofia and in most towns across the country alcohol consumption is not forbidden, due to the fact that the day of election silence coincides with the traditional proms. The sale, serving and consumption of alcoholic beverages on 25 and 26 May is prohibited in catering establishments in close proximity to polling stations.

According to data of the Central Election Commission, the number of voters according to the preliminary voters lists in Bulgaria is over 6 million 300,000.
