The Chairperson of the National Assembly Committee on Transport, Information Technology and Communications Halil Letifov called the preliminary agreement between the European institutions under the Mobility Package, proposed by the French President Emanuel Macron, totally unacceptable. Bulgaria and the countries from Central and Eastern Europe will refer the matter to Court of Justice of the European Union, if the Mobility Package is officially adopted, Bulgaria’s Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Rosen Zhelyazkov said. Sofia contends that the texts adopted under the Mobility Package are discriminatory and disproportionate and contradict to the policy for lower levels of carbon emissions announced by the new European Commission. The Mobility Package will affect 120,000 Bulgarians employed at the transport sector.
