Bulgaria will initiate a debate in the EU on the adoption of single criteria for control of the internal borders amidst coronavirus pandemic, Bulgaria’s Deputy Premier and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ekaterina Zaharieva  announced, the press office of the Foreign Ministry informs.

Minister Zaharieva called on the Bulgarian ambassadors abroad  to work towards the fulfillment of this task during the traditional meeting with heads of Bulgarian diplomatic missions.

The EU managed to introduce criteria for third countries. Meanwhile, there are no criteria for internal borders within the Union, Minister Zaharieva said. In her words, the single rules for control of the EU internal borders must be clear and public both for citizens and business.
