Illegally exported dog from Bulgaria to Norway rescued

Bulgaria's Food Agency has authorized the return from Norway to Bulgaria of a chihuahua named Raya, which was threatened with euthanasia due to an invalid passport. The case received an international response after the call of world-famous actor Jean-Claude van Damme to the Bulgarian authorities to save the three-month-old animal.
The Food Agency has launched an inspection of the veterinarian who issued the dog's papers and documents with false content have been found. Other inspections also revealed false documents intended for animals that had to be taken abroad. This is a prerequisite for illegal trade.
The agency is also investigating signals for illegal animal breeding grounds for trade, Dr. Marina Ivanova from the agency told BNR.
