Former US Ambassador to Bulgaria James Pardew passed away at age of 77

Former US Ambassador to Bulgaria James Pardew (2002-2005) died at the age of 77, arkansasonline reports. According to the article, Pardew passed away on Wednesday. The cause of death is not specified.

Born in 1944 in Memphis, Pardew was one of the most active American diplomats in the Balkans. He was part of the team of another renowned American diplomat, Richard Holbrooke. The two participated in drafting of the Dayton Peace Agreement in 1995, which put an end to the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Pardew was also involved in drafting and signing another important agreement in the Balkans - the Ohrid Agreement, which marked the end of a year-long conflict in Macedonia in 2001.

He also led talks with Serbian dictator Slobodan Milosevic during the Kosovo war.

Even after retiring from active politics, he continued to comment and analyze the events in the Balkans, including the processes in Bulgaria, BGNES reports.
