The few still preserved Bulgarian beaches "Coral", "Kara Dere" and "Pasha Dere" have become part of the protected areas of the Natura 2020 network and construction is prohibited in them, the caretaker government decided.
"The pristine Black Sea coast is not an ordinary commodity that can be sold," commented the Minister of Environment Asen Lichev, and the Minister of Economy Kiril Petkov added: "If we want to develop tourism with high added value, it cannot be a wall of hotels on top of the dunes of the Bulgarian Black Sea coast.”
After the cabinet meeting, it became clear that large American companies such as Disney and Netflix were showing interest in protected areas for filming.
