Launch of chronic diseases prevention programme

A 5% reduction of the health risk factors such as tobacco, alcohol and lack of physical exercise among Bulgarians aged over 15. This is envisaged by the chronic diseases prevention programme spanning the period until 2025.

The document includes measures for the early diagnostics and prevention of cardiovascular diseases, malignant neoplasms, diabetes and chronic lung diseases.

Over the coming 5 years, the death rate from coronary artery diseases, cerebrovascular disease and diabetes type 2 is expected to drop by between 1 and 5%.
