Born in Chirpan, after finishing school in Kurdzhali he left for Plovdiv where he studied economics. There, he joined a band and started giving concerts. He later took part in the English X Factor, which prepared him for his successful appearance in The Voice of Finland. There, his mentor was Michael Monroe, and Plamen himself went by the name of Plamen De La Bona, a name he has kept.
