Sofia will host the fourth Vitosha mountain tour with vintage and classic cars - Classic Vitosha Trophy. The race on Saturday and Sunday is modeled on similar events in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Danail Penchev, organizer of the event told BNR.

He specified that it was not a rally, but a race of cars driving on the road network at a competitive pace, with the help of a road book made by the organizers in advance.

They have to get from one point to another not in the fastest time but in a specific time, respecting all the road restrictions set by law on the route, which for the second time will be a total length of 300 kilometers. Teams of 50 cars built up to the year 2000 have entered the race.

"The oldest vintage car we will see is a 1928 model," said Danail Penchev. There are various tests for the participants such as filling the right amount of gasoline, parking, maneuvering, precision driving and braking, and the winner needs to get the least count of penalty points. For those who love high speeds, there will also be a speed race, which will take place on an airstrip at the foot of Vitosha.

The full Classic Vitosha Trophy schedule is posted on the event's FB page. Co-organizer is Vitosha Metropolitan District, on whose territory much of the route will pass.
