A memorial ceremony was held today at Burgas Airport to mark the 10th anniversary of a terrorist attack in which five Israelis and a Bulgarian national died and close to 40 were seriously injured. Citizens laid wreaths and lit candles. On July 18, 2012, a suiside bomber perpetrated a terrorist attack detonating a bomb in the luggage compartment of a passenger bus transporting Israeli tourists. Five Israeli tourists and their Bulgarian bus driver were killed in the terrorist attack.

Relatives of the victims of the terrorist attack, former Minister of Interior Tsvetan Tsvetanov and U.S. Ambassador to Bulgaria Herro Mustafa attended the memorial ceremony, the BNR- Burgas reported. Two Lebanese nationals, Meliad Farah and Hassan el Hajj Hassan, were tried in absentia over the attack at Burgas Airport.

"This event has shown that terrorism shall not prevail",said Yoram Elron, Ambassador of Israel to Bulgaria. He pointed out that the number of Israeli tourists in Bulgaria has increased, which means that people are not afraid.
